Standing up a bank on a cloud-native core

A modern core is not a product you switch on. It is a ledger you configure and a surface you have to build around it before any of it is a bank a customer can use.

A cloud-native core and the surface built around it The core ledger sits at the centre. Ledger configuration, account opening, eKYC, CRM and the contact centre are the integration surface that has to be built for the core to become a usable bank. The method

  1. The ledger configuration is the product decision

How accounts, interest and fees are modelled in the core determines what the bank can sell later. It looks like a technical task and is not.

  2. Onboarding is where the launch is won or lost

Account opening and eKYC are the first thing every customer touches and the first place regulation binds hard.

  3. Integrate to the systems the bank already runs on

CRM and the contact centre have to see core data, or the staff end up working from two truths.

  4. Build the team inside, not only around

A transformation that leaves when the consultants leave was a project, not a transformation.
